Stony Creek Brewery Engagement Shoot // August, 2017

Welcome to the blog

Stony Creek Brewery was the host for our recent engagement session. Kay and I met two of the managers at a styled shoot we just did in early summer. They welcomed us to their brewery and BOY OH BOY are we glad we took them up on the invite. It was perfect for these two, who actually had been thinking of taking some photos at a brewery anyways. If you haven’t been to Stony Creek Brewery yet, do yourself a favor and go there TONIGHT. There is a beautiful view of the water (since it sits on the marina) a patio, another lower patio with cocktail tables AND yard games…like cornhole…and a FULL Bocce Ball court. Its pretty sweet…oh and you can enjoy beer everywhere. Haha.

These two were splendid to work with. The entire time we were snapping away taking photos…they were smiling…like for REAL smiling. I didn’t have to ask them to do that once, they were honestly happy to be there, a blast to work with, and TOTALLY in love with each other.

We had the privilege of using the upstairs area -usually used for receptions and special events- and we had it all to ourselves. So naturally we stole away to the sunlit corners of the room for some dramatic silhouettes. The best part though… Georgetown cupcakes. These are officially a tradition now after they were purchased for our lovely lady here on her first Valentine’s Day with this special man. They actually weren’t officially dating yet…so my thought is that the cupcakes sealed the deal. <3

Bonus perks of this upstairs room…was the balcony off the back. This was KEY in gorgeous photos this evening because on this particular Thursday it was PACKED! Perhaps it was because the weather was a cool, sunny, perfect 75 degrees. 🙂 Literally PERFECT. And the sun happened to be setting right behind this sweet little corner here.

We needed to refill beers so we headed to the downstairs bar, naturally wearing their college tees…which happen to be rivals. 😉

And as we waited for the sun to drop they got a little a fancier and hid among the ivy for some sweet moments together before we took them back up to our fav balcony to dance among the glowing bulbs and fading lights.

The other “meant to be” moment is finding out that our bride to be here LOVES lights. Especially the Edison Bulbs that were so perfectly hung for our Engagement Shoot with these two. Thanks to the heavens for a perfect drop of color at the end of the night and we can whole-heartedly say that Stony Creek will be visited again. Every backdrop was perfect for the personality of these two and they made our job as easy as a drinking a cold beer on a warm summer night.
