Vineyards = wine, vast fields of grape vines, and of course those majestic sunsets you see on all of Italy’s postcards right? Right. And we are blessed with this scenery….in Wallingford, CT! Okay…so I haven’t yet been to Italy and anyone that HAS been there is laughing at me right now saying that it does not compare…but honestly I don’t know any better and this engagement shoot was so perfect I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Maybe a little less wind…but Sarah was a champ so it didn’t upset our session one bit, even if the wind did try to re-style her hair a few times.
Sarah and Paul began their afternoon date with a bottle of wine from Gouveia itself. We met them inside the cozy wine room only to bring them outside into the glaring sun and blustery wind. I myself may have frowned a couple times with how windy it was, but MAN I can’t say it enough…Sarah and Paul ignored their wind like nothing I’ve ever seen. Their cheery dispositions throughout this shoot made the wind later give up…leave us alone…and leave us with some pretty amazing photos.
My favorite part about using vineyards as the locations for our engagement sessions is the ability to let our couples stroll through the vines and strike up a conversation of their own, hand in hand. I’m definitely a strong believer in “touch”. It’s a very important sense of ours that I feel like gets lost in the hustle and bustle of life, the overuse of social media, and the moments that are taken for granted. The easiest way to show how much you care about someone, is to physically tell them with a simple touch. That is why when I asked Sarah and Paul to stroll down the path between the vines and hold hands they were no longer just taking a walk, hand in pockets, chatting about life… now they were taking a walk –together. And together is what the rest of their lives is all about. To stay connected throughout this new journey is the most important thing that can be done. So, next time you take a walk through the park with your loved one…hold their hand. It will make all the difference.
Gouveia expertly designed their property around a sweet little pond just perfect for sipping wine as the sun begins to drop from the sky. We were waiting anxiously for the golden light to appear so we hung out dockside for a bit while the clouds rolled by and then made our way to the back field to take advantage of some pretty great greenery that surrounded this handsome couple and their unending smiles. And at this point the sun broke through the clouds and almost stole the show…if it wasn’t for the adorable way these two looked at each other.
Finally, after two engagement sessions and a wedding, we were able to capture a glorious sunset as the golden hues rushed over the hills past Sarah and Paul. Kay and I were so ecstatic about this perfect light we snapped hundreds of photos in succession to capture every angle possible for these two. So, Sarah and Paul…thank you for choosing this perfect date. 😉
Congratulations on your engagement! We are so happy for you two and can’t wait to work with you again in the fall! Your smiles and sunny dispositions are sure to make another beautiful day of work for the two of us.
See you soon! Amy and Kay
