Sam & Rob // October 21st, 2017 // A Boston Wedding

Welcome to the blog

Two years ago, November, we headed into Downtown Boston to shoot a Martinello wedding. Last weekend, we found ourselves doing the same thing. Except this time it was for Ryan’s twin, Rob! We love working with crazy awesome families multiple times and what better than shooting both twins weddings! Sam and Rob your day was so fun and we had a blast walking through Boston with you! Enjoy this roundup of some of our favorite moments from your day πŸ™‚

First of all, this is probably the most dress photos I have ever shared in a blog post but her dress was amazing…look at these layers!

While I hung out with the girls, Amy went over to the guys room to meet up with Rob. Her favorite part is when they requested an elevator picture. guys, I’m pretty impressed you managed to get all your heads showing in there!

As Sam finished a few touchups her honorary bridesmaids hopped into their black dresses andΒ  everyone stepped in to help transform Sam into a bride.

When the wedding coordinator told us we could do the first look in an alley outside the Bostonian we just said sure, we like brick! Then sam told us it’s supposedly an alley that Paul Revere rode through…and then our outlook changed! There’s nothing more New England-esque than a first look in autumn in a brick alleyway graced by Paul Revere πŸ™‚ Also, Rob’s reaction was perfection. We always step back a bit and let the first look be an intimate moment but we couldn’t help joining Sam in laughter as Rob exclaimed how much dress she had! From there we went straight into bridal portraits.

From the alley we headed into the heart of Boston. Namely over to Quincy Market. Due to a concert going on this weekend, everywhere was packed. So instead of trying to fight our way through crowds with a massive wedding gown, we opted instead for some portraits right outside Quincy market and Faneuil Hall. Then we took said gown and went for a walk! Stopping in sunlit patches, pretty gardens, and beautiful landscapes, we soaked in that 75 degree weather! They’d actually planned the wedding to be in October so it wouldn’t be so hot. Oh well. You win some and you lose some! We lost on weather but we won on locations!

So, note that dress twirl up there…which you may have seen on our Instagram…it was their FIRST time ever doing that and they nailed it! With the sunlight streaming in from above they danced like noone was watching…even though everyone was πŸ˜‰ One of the things that’s bound to happen in a busy city. But Sam and Rob were in their own world and later we commented on how good it must feel to get so many compliments and best wishes in one day!

We of course had to revisit Columbus Park, and the very bench Rob proposed by. It was the only empty one, which was just meant to be! We recreated the proposal hug that Sam had posted on Instagram and even posed for a student that was doing a photo project on couples. Then it was time to head back to the hotel to get refreshed before the ceremony!

Of course it wouldn’t have been a Martinello wedding without this cutie pie running around either, so we made sure to snap a few special photos with just her! I told her that she was only two at Ryan’s wedding and didn’t want to talk to me, and she responded “Well now I talk A LOT!” and that was certainly true. She kept telling everyone how she was the flower girl and how she and Sam matched that day. So cute πŸ™‚

Inside the beautiful Bostonian Hotel was a tucked away ballroom. Walking into it was surreal. Coming from normal hotel hallways into a light and airy room with a stunning view of Boston was awesome. Everyone got seated for the ceremony, which Rob’s siter officated beautifully, and they sealed the day with two rings and a kiss!

As cocktail hour got underway the sun set. With a quick flip of the room, the ballroom was transformed into a cozy and warm reception. Sam had mentioned to me that she’d said she wanted minimal decorations inside, because the view was the best part. I had to agree and definitely used that pretty outside bokeh in my detail shots πŸ˜‰ Including the ring shots, held up in front of the window! Also, how fun is that polaroid holder Sam’s friend made. As guests took their place card, they left a photo of themselves. Such a clever idea and a great way to have a candid “guestbook” of your guests.

A sweet first dance, hilarious toasts (seriously, I hope someone recorded those!) and the always tear-inducing parent dances kept the night moving as guests ate and drank. As soon as Sam and Rob cut their cake…which note…was both chocolate and funfetti(!), the dance floor opened up and the party started! These guests were ready to dance and seriously it causes infectious laughter watching everyone enjoy themselves so much.

Sam & Rob, we had so much fun with your family and friends. You are a blast and we’re so thankful to feel like a part of your family. If we’re ever back in town, you may be getting a text to grab some drinks! πŸ˜‰ Congratulations on your marriage!

Love, Amy & Kay
